Do businesses still need blogs or is AI replacing them?

Roosy from Quora asks:

Do businesses still need blogs, or is AI-generated content replacing them?

It’s a bit of both. If a blog is just there to give generic information, AI has pretty much replaced it because people can get those answers directly from a chatbot now.

But for businesses that actually have something unique to say, the blog is just changing form.

Here is how it's playing out:

The Good Enough Approach: Many businesses are using OpenRouter and Make/n8n to automate content at scale. They have a human editor check it for errors, but the goal is mostly just to have a presence for a low cost.

For them, AI has replaced the traditional writing staff.

The Expertise Approach: Then you have companies (including AI companies themselves) that still hire writers and strategists. They aren't trying to compete with AI on basic facts.

They’re building a library of content based on actual experience and opinions that an AI can't just hallucinate or pull from a training set.

So, do businesses still need them?

If the goal is just to repeat what's already on the internet, then no. AI does that better and cheaper.

But if the goal is to show you actually know what you're talking about, a blog is still one of the best ways to do that.

It’s just that the bar for what counts as useful is much higher now.
