Find your audience’s real problems without needing a single like?
Olivia from Quora asks:
How can I see what problems people have with self care if nobody on Instagram cares enough to even engage or stay for even 3 seconds? I've tried so many hooks and topics, but all I've managed to get is an encouragement comment and 2 likes.
Hi Olivia.
I’m not an Instagram guru, but finding the hidden problems people have is my jam.
In an ideal world, our audience would tell us exactly what they need.
We’d post a question, and they’d leave a detailed comment.
Unfortunately, we can’t control the algorithm or the fact that most people are scrolling while thinking about a hundred other things.
Instead of fighting for those 3 seconds of attention on Instagram, let’s shift to something you can control.
Since you’re already here on Quora, start by searching the Self-Care or Self-Improvement topics.
Then, head over to Reddit (specifically r/selfcare or r/selfimprovement).
On these platforms, you don’t need to hook anyone into talking.
People are already writing long, honest posts about exactly what’s keeping them up at night.
They're already talking.
You just have to listen.
One other thing to check: who exactly are you serving?
The clearer your picture of the reader, the more your message will hit when they see it.
It might feel slow now, but you don't need a viral hit to be successful.
To give you some perspective: I made my first sale when I only had 12 views on LinkedIn.
Once I started averaging around 300 views (impressions), I got 4 more sales.
I don't do this full-time (I have a day job).
But it proves that if you are consistent and helpful in the right places, you’ll find the people who actually need you.
