How to create shareable content?
Skye from Quora asks:
How do you produce content that other people will want to share?
I’ve found that entertainment content is always going to be more shareable than educational content. Not because one has more value, but because most people go online to be entertained. If something is funny, cute, or interesting enough, people share it instinctively.
For educational content, it’s all about the exchange of value. To get someone interested, you have to answer a few questions:
- Did your post resolve a pain point that others couldn't?
- Did you explain a concept so well it changed their perspective?
- Did you help them realize they should do something differently?
Visuals and formatting are usually the last things on a reader's mind. They are looking for value. If your post is useful enough, they can't help but share it because it actually made them feel different.
My advice? Talk about something you care about and have experience in first.
Then, make sure you're answering the reader's only real question: "what's in it for me?"
