I Stopped Stressing About Metrics. Here's What Changed.
We’ve all been there.
You hit "publish" on a piece you love, and then... you refresh.
And refresh again.
You watch the views, the likes, the sales, and feel your stomach sink.
It forces the question: What does successful copy really mean to you — sales or satisfaction?
For me, it changes from post to post.
Each post might have a different intent, meaning how I define success also shifts.
In general though, my success is based on what's in my control.
I used to stress about views, likes, sales.
I got caught up in the idea of using metrics to guide my value.
It was like being a performer just playing for applause.
But after I realized those are things outside of my control, everything changed.
I'm satisfied with my work, regardless of the outcome.
My new metrics are internal.
Is the post clear? Is it authentic to me? Did I say what I needed to say?
My worth is no longer tied to things I don't influence.
My worth is tied to what I believe it is.
I stopped being a performer and focused on the craft. The lesson I learned there was clear:
You can write the ‘best’ copy in the world but you don’t control how it’s received.
