Is Grammarly Sterilizing Your Writing?

Ever accepted all of Grammarly's suggestions, only to read the text back and think, "This is correct, but it's not me"?

You're not alone.

The biggest downside of over-relying on an AI tool is its aggressive changes.

Grammarly’s suggestions are often grammatically perfect, and they read well.

But they can be hollow.

They risk stripping the nuance and context from your message, misrepresenting what you're actually trying to say.

For example, a passionate, human sentence like this:

"Figuring this out was tough, but our team pulled together and made it work."

Can be "corrected" into something sterile and corporate:

"The implementation of the solution necessitated a considerable endeavor; however, the team facilitated a successful outcome."

The first connects. The second is forgettable.

Writing is a form of expression—a way to share a meaningful message.

Think of it like a dinner plate.

You don't need a plate that's been sterilized for surgery; you just need one that's clean enough to eat off of.

Strict grammar isn't the main point of communication.

Use Grammarly as a guide.

Let it help you find the typos and clean your plate.

But don’t let it sterilize your voice.
