Is starting a blog worth it?

Bambi from Quora asks:

Are people still reading blogs? I have always loved the idea of running a blog, however with today’s e-commerce and numbers focused mindset, I'm not sure if people willingly follow blogs.

Yes, they absolutely are.

I totally get where you’re coming from. It’s the nature of business today to over-analyze, over-optimize, and over-science everything just to find the shortest path to a dollar.

To those people, everything is just a metric.

But honestly? I think it’s actually more valuable to start a blog today because of that.

Sure, some people will settle for the generic answers they get from AI tools.

That’s a given.

But there is a specific group of people (the ones who truly care about a topic) who want to hear from someone with authority.

Think about it: ChatGPT has never gone through a divorce. It’s never struggled with mental health. It doesn't know the physical frustration of wanting to quit a diet when the scale won't move.

It feels nothing.

As a human, you have authority on the things you’ve actually lived through. That raw experience is exactly what real people are craving right now in a sea of optimized content.

To show you this isn't just wishful thinking, here are the numbers from my own blog’s backend over the last 30 days:

The numbers mindset exists, but the numbers show that people are still looking for a human connection.

So, if blogging is something you love, go for it.

At the very least, you’ll learn something about yourself.

It’s not for everyone, but that’s fine.

Everyone likes their own flavor of ice cream.
