Is there any point in writing long-form content?
This Q from Quora asks:
Do people actually consume long-form content anymore, or has attention truly shifted to short videos?
There is a lot of noise about short-form video taking over.
But when you think about it, people still binge-watch entire seasons of The Office and The Lord of the Rings in a single weekend.
That tells us it’s not really a battle between long or short.
It’s a battle between engaging and boring.
Most people are online looking for entertainment 80% of the time.
Whether they are looking to be entertained or looking to learn, the rule is the same:
If it’s good, they’ll stay.
If it’s not, they’ll scroll.
Audiences for both long and short-form will always exist.
The greater question for creators isn’t "how long should this be?" but "am I talking about things that actually matter to my audience?"
The more something matters, the more attention someone gives it.
It doesn't matter if it takes 60 seconds or 60 minutes.
