Need inspiration for new content?
This Q from Quora asks:
What's the very first thing you do when you need to find fresh inspiration for new online content?
I go straight to the forums.
To me, the best inspiration comes from the source, not from someone else's interpretation of it.
Here is my freshness workflow:
Reddit: I use the feature that lets you filter subreddits by the top posts of the day or week.
It’s a simple check on what people are actually talking about right now.
Quora: I look for questions asked in the last 24 hours.
Quora is great because it shows exactly how many hours ago a question was posted, which is perfect if you’re looking for the freshest of the fresh.
If I need to go broader, I’ll check Google News or a curatd RSS feed.
Some RSS feeds even pull in X (Twitter) posts and youtube videos, which helps you see what the bigger sites are talking about.
The reason I prefer forums first is simple: I want to see the questions, not the answers.
YouTube videos, blog posts, and X threads are great, but they are already "finished" products.
They come with the biases and filters of the creator.
I prefer to focus on the person asking the question.
I want to hear the frustrations, the pain points, the unanswered questions, the wonderful stories that people are going through.
