Starting a hobby car review blog?

This question from Quora asks:

I want to review cars as a hobby on my blog. Don't want anything serious out of it. Where do I start and how I get cars to test drive?

A hobby blog is a great project.

The best way to start is just to look at what's already around you. You could reach out to friends or family to see if they’ll let you poke around their cars and take a quick drive, which is probably the easiest way to get your first few posts done.

For other cars, you can try a few things:

Rental apps / Car rentals: It costs a little money, but you get the car for a whole day without a salesperson hanging around. It’s a great way to actually live with a car you're curious about.

Dealerships: You can definitely go for test drives to see new features but you can even talk about the experience of buying a new car.

Second-hand listings: You don't even have to drive these to write about them. You can just discuss the prices you're seeing online and if those cars actually make sense for people's needs.

Even if you're just winging it, it helps to have a few basic questions you always answer (like "is the trunk actually useful?"). It gives you a simple system to follow so you aren't staring at a blank page.

Good luck and have fun!
