The WHO and WHAT behind content
Vinny from Quora asks:
What is vetting in blogging?
Vetting content is essentially just critical thinking paired with checking the authority of the person who wrote the post.
There are two main questions worth asking to vet any piece of content:
Is this true or backed up by facts? Facts help you see the whole story, not just the slice presented to you. While a writer's bias can never be 100% eliminated, being backed by data helps alleviate the issue. Still, be careful. One can easily present cherry-picked facts to support a one-sided perspective.
Is the person/business saying this a credible source? The who is just as important as the what. For example: if you and Alex Hormozi said the exact same thing about sales, but he has 15+ years of experience and you’re in your first year, there is an obvious credibility gap. That doesn’t mean your experience is invalid, but it puts the strength of your point into perspective.
