Your blog not getting traffic?
Jane from Quora asks:
Why am I still not getting traffic to my blog after 2 years of blogging?
Hi Jane.
Two years is a long time to see no results.
To figure out why your traffic is stalled, we need to isolate the problem. Here are four questions to help you audit your blog:
Is your blog actually indexed? When you Google your blog’s specific name, does it show up at all?
Even if it’s on page two or three, its presence confirms there are no major technical blocks preventing Google from seeing you. If it doesn’t show up for its own name, you likely have a technical SEO issue.
Are you answering questions or just sharing? People find content by searching for solutions to problems.
Is your blog providing answers, or is it a personal journal? There is nothing wrong with a personal blog, but unless people already know you, they aren't searching for your life updates.
For traffic to grow, your content needs to offer a "What’s in it for them?" value proposition.
Do you have Messenger Authority? The web needs to know why you are the right person to talk about your topic.
This is your authority (a degree, a major life transformation, or a specific problem you solved for yourself). It’s not just about the message; it’s about the messenger.
If your content feels like it's just regurgitated from other sites, Google won't prioritize it.
Is your niche too small (or too quiet)? Sometimes the expertise is just too niche.
For example, if you are a technician for a very specific, rare type of international ATM, there simply might not be enough people searching for that info to generate traffic.
You have to make sure there is an actual audience looking for what you know.
By going through these four stages, you can usually spot exactly where the leak in your traffic is happening.
